US‑Ukraine summit fallout: Trump's clash with Zelensky cheered by Kremlin
It's remarkable that US President Donald Trump and his deputy, JD Vance, managed to restrain themselves and "didn't lash out" at Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on Friday. Russian authorities reacted with satisfaction to the leaders' disagreement.
Much of the information provided by Belarusian and Russian media or government representatives contains elements of propaganda. Such reports are part of the information war waged by the Russian Federation.
During a meeting between Trump and Zelensky at the White House and a joint press conference, a heated argument ensued between the leaders. Consequently, the signing of a bilateral agreement allowing American companies access to exploit rare earth metals in Ukraine was postponed. This was meant to be the most significant aspect of Zelensky's visit. The President of Ukraine then left the White House.
Later, Trump posted a comment on social media, urging the Ukrainian president to return "when he is ready for peace." He also accused him of disrespecting the United States.
Trump attacks Zelensky, Kremlin applauds
An adviser to Vladimir Putin reacted to the recording of the fierce exchange in the Oval Office with just one word.
"Historic" – wrote Kirill Dmitriev on the X platform.
Dmitriev is the CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and participated in recent talks between the US and Russia in Saudi Arabia.
Former President Dmitry Medvedev described Trump's rhetoric towards Zelensky as a "proper slap down in the Oval Office."
He called Zelensky a "pig," and referred to his administration as the "Kyiv regime."

Pro-Kremlin media: Zelensky "argued and was rude"
The headline of the Russian news agency TASS stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky "interrupted, argued, and was rude to the press."
"During the meeting with US President Donald Trump, Volodymyr Zelensky attempted to argue with the American leader, shouting, sometimes answering questions before him, and at times directly interrupting and responding rudely to some journalists' questions," reported the TASS agency.
The headline of another Russian state news agency, RIA, read: "Zelensky's hysteria in the White House shocks the Council," referring to the Ukrainian parliament.
"The White House has never witnessed such emotions before," wrote a well-known pro-Kremlin television channel.
Meanwhile, Russian state media presenter Olga Skabeeva stated on her Telegram channel—speaking sarcastically—that "Zelensky apparently spoke to Trump from a position of strength."
