West urged to negotiate amid claims of shifting battlefield
Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergei Shoigu stated on Thursday that the situation on the battlefield in Ukraine “is not favourable for Kyiv,” and the West “should acknowledge this and negotiate an end to the war based on current realities.”
Many reports given by Russian media or government representatives are elements of propaganda. Such reports are part of the information warfare led by the Russian Federation.

"A tool for Russia's strategic defeat"
"Now that the situation on the battlefield is not favourable for the authorities in Kyiv, the West faces a choice: to continue financing it and destroying the Ukrainian population or to acknowledge the situation and start negotiating," Shoigu, the former Russian Defence Minister, stated at a meeting of security council secretaries of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Moscow.
He added that the West, with the help of "colour revolutions," began transforming Ukraine into a "tool for Russia's strategic defeat," but this plan failed.
Ukrainian project DeepState, citing monitoring data, reported on Wednesday that Russian forces occupied around 490 square kilometres of Ukrainian territory in October. This is the most in the entire 2024, as well as since the start of the Russian counteroffensive in October of the previous year.
Fourth time in two weeks. Putin: Russia is ready
As we reported on Tuesday, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin for the fourth time in two weeks announced his readiness to negotiate with Ukraine. - "Russia is open to peace talks with Ukraine," Putin declared during the ceremony of presenting credentials to foreign ambassadors at the Kremlin. He also recalled the talks that were already conducted in March 2022.
