"Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will meet in Downing Street on Saturday afternoon," announced a spokeswoman for the office of the British prime minister. The meeting will occur the day before a summit of several European leaders concerning Ukraine.

Zelensky's visit to London comes after unsuccessful talks with US President Donald Trump in Washington. In London, there will also be a meeting of European leaders with the President of Ukraine.

The high stakes of the London meeting

British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has invited several European leaders to the meeting. The talks will also include NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and European Council President Antonio Costa. The BBC stresses that given the failed negotiations in Washington, the stakes of the London meeting are "colossal."

The meeting at Downing Street aims to discuss further actions regarding the situation in Ukraine. Zelensky's visit to London is a crucial part of international efforts to support Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict.
