Crispy chicken and beyond: The art of golden coatings
Chicken pieces in a crispy coating are perfect not only for dinner but also as a snack. They are delicious both hot and cold. You can serve them on rice with vegetables, mix them into a salad, or enjoy them with a bold sauce such as sriracha mayo or Greek tzatziki.
A breadcrumb coating is one of many ways to achieve a golden, crispy layer on chicken pieces. Another intriguing method is to combine bread crumbs with cornflakes. Crush them with a mallet or blend them into a powder. Add sesame seeds, crushed walnuts, or grated Parmesan to the coating to enrich the snack with a cheesy touch.
Not just chicken in sesame coating
You can fry almost anything in a golden coating. Combined with sesame seeds, seafood such as shrimp or calamari is great. You can also coat pieces of fish, tofu, or even mozzarella balls this way.
In Japan, vegetables fried in tempura, a light batter, are a popular snack. In China, fried ice cream with a coconut coating is served as a dessert.
