Israeli strike targets alleged Jihad HQ in Damascus
The Israeli Air Force conducted an attack on a building in Damascus, which Tel Aviv claims housed the headquarters of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
The target of the attack, as reported by Reuters citing sources in the Syrian security services, was a Palestinian individual. According to the Associated Press, the building reportedly housed Ziyad Nahkhalah, the Secretary-General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
According to a member of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the house had been empty for years, and Nahkhalah is not in Syria. There is a belief that Nahkhalah, considered very close to the Iranian authorities, moves between Lebanon, Iran, and Syria.
Currently, there is no information on whether anyone was injured in the Israeli Air Force attack.
"There will be no immunity for Islamic terrorism"
The Palestinian Islamic Jihad, though less numerous than Hamas, is one of the most significant terrorist groups in the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli Air Force attack on Damascus is part of a broader strategy by Israel aimed at countering terrorist activities targeted at the Jewish state. - Wherever terror activity against Israel is organized, the extreme Islamic leader al-Jolani will find the Air Force aircraft flying above and striking terror targets - emphasized Israel's Defense Minister, Israel Katz.
- There will be no immunity for Islamic terrorism against Israel – whether in Damascus or anywhere else - added Minister Katz.
