Klaus Schwab steps down as World Economic Forum chairman
Klaus Schwab, founder and chairman of the World Economic Forum, has announced his resignation. This organization is known for organizing the annual World Economic Forum in Davos.
Professor Klaus Schwab established the World Economic Forum, which holds its yearly meetings in Davos, Switzerland. He is also the author of "The Fourth Industrial Revolution," a book that discusses key megatrends with significant influence on the future of the economy and societies.
In a statement on the official World Economic Forum website, Schwab stated: "Following my recent announcement, and as I enter my 88th year, I have decided to step down from the position of Chair and as a member of the Board of Trustees, with immediate effect."
Schwab referred to his "recent announcement," indicating his plan to step down, which was initially communicated in May 2024.
The World Economic Forum was founded in 1971 by Klaus Schwab. It is a non-profit organization known for its annual conference in Davos, Switzerland, which gathers CEOs from the world's largest corporations, political leaders, intellectuals, and journalists. About 2,000 people attend this event each year.
