What do you need to know?

  • Russia's night attacks: On the night from Thursday to Friday, Russia conducted one of the largest attacks on Ukraine, using 214 drones.
  • Damage in Ukraine: The attacks damaged infrastructure in the Odesa, Khmelnytskyi, Sumy, and Kyiv regions.
  • Ukraine's response: Ukrainian forces shot down 114 drones, minimizing the impact of the attack.

How did President Macron react?

"This night, Russia once again showed that it genuinely does not share the will for peace"—wrote Macron on the X service, attaching a photo of burning buildings. He simultaneously assured the "full support of the Ukrainian people".

What were the consequences of the attacks?

Russian forces used 214 drones last night to attack Ukraine. Most of the machines did not reach their target, reported the Ukrainian Air Force on Friday.

"As of 09:30, 114 Shahed and other types of attack UAVs have been confirmed downed in the south, north and centre of the country. Eighty-one enemy decoy drones disappeared from radar (without adverse effects)"—stated the Air Force communications.

In the fight against drones, Ukrainian aviation, as well as rocket forces and mobile groups equipped with anti-aircraft guns and heavy machine guns, were involved.

"As a result of the Russian attacks, infrastructure objects in the regions of Odesa, Khmelnytskyi, Sumy, and Kyiv suffered"—the Air Force reported.
