"Odesa is burning; Russian drones are hitting civilian objects in the city. There are casualties," the head of the Ukrainian president's office shared on social media.
According to reports from local media, Russian drones hit a residential complex and a shopping centre. Many shops and service establishments were also damaged.
The mayor of Odesa reported that most explosions are heard in the southern districts of the city. The Air Force had earlier warned of the threat from drones flying in from the Black Sea.
The head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, Oleg Kiper, appealed to the residents of Odesa and the Odesa region to remain in shelters. "Threat of mass drone attack! Stay hidden!" emphasized the official.
