Mid‑air chaos: Passenger attempts to open AirAsia exit door
During a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Sydney, dangerous and shocking events unfolded. A passenger, a Jordanian national, attempted to open the airplane door twice. However, that's not all.
The unpredictable incident occurred on Saturday, April 5, during the flight from Kuala Lumpur to Sydney. At that time, the behaviour of the 46-year-old Jordanian passenger caused chaos on board.
He started opening the airplane door
The man, travelling with AirAsia, became aggressive and attacked the cabin crew. In a scuffle with him, he struck one of the crew members. Moreover, the man, unresponsive to crew instructions, attempted twice to open the rear emergency exit door of the airplane, which posed a serious threat to the safety of everyone on board.
The crew and passengers managed to restrain him before a tragedy occurred. After landing in Sydney, the Jordanian citizen was immediately taken into custody by Australian Federal Police officers.
Legal consequences
Following the questioning of the man and the cabin crew, the 46-year-old was charged, and proceedings against him are set to occur on April 9 this year. The hearing is to be held in the court in Parramatta. He will answer for endangering flight safety and assaulting a crew member.
Davina Copelin of the Australian Federal Police emphasized that such behaviour could have had tragic consequences. The police are unwilling to tolerate aggression on airplanes and are prepared to take decisive action in similar situations. According to Australia.news-pravda.com, the man faces up to 10 years of imprisonment.
