New generation paints Tesla blue in Berlin protest against Musk
Activists from the group New Generation conducted a protest by splashing blue paint on a Tesla showroom in Berlin. This action was intended to express opposition to the political activities of Elon Musk, the owner of the company. The choice of paint colour, as highlighted by the protesters, was deliberate.
On Monday in Berlin, an unusual protest took place. Activists from the New Generation group, formerly known as the Last Generation, splashed blue paint on the Tesla branch in the Reinickendorf district. One of the posters carried by the protesters read: "Closed until further notice due to fascism."
A police spokesperson, in a conversation with "Bild," explained that several individuals sprayed paint on the building's facade, entrance area, and six display vehicles. Two women, aged 28 and 44, were detained but were released after their identities were verified. An investigation into property damage is currently underway.
Blue paint as a symbol
The "Tagesspiegel" portal reports that the choice of blue was not accidental. It is a colour associated with the right-wing populist party Alternative for Germany (AfD). New Generation explained on Instagram that the protest aimed to draw attention to the "destructive political influence" of Elon Musk in the USA. The colour of the paint was intended as an allusion to Musk's alleged fascist stance and his support for the AfD.
The protest is part of a broader campaign that began on March 1. In the past, the Last Generation group organized numerous protests, demanding more decisive climate policies.
New Generation calls for action
On the website neuegeneration.com, activists emphasize that "the time for a non-violent democratic revolution is now." According to them, the world is currently more unstable than ever, and society faces a choice: whether to allow the dominance of the super-rich and their right-wing allies, or to chart a course for a just future.
The activists declare that their actions aim to demonstrate that there is an alternative path. "Together, we initiate protests. We put pressure on politicians," they write on their website.
