Presidential election annulled: Foreign interference revealed
The Constitutional Court of Romania has decided to annul the first round of the presidential elections. This decision arises from the discovery of manipulation in the campaign of candidate Calin Georgescu. He was reportedly the beneficiary of an operation conducted from outside Romania.
The Constitutional Court of Romania made this decision during its Friday session, as reported by Digi24 television, citing official sources.
This move means the entire election process must begin again.
Manipulation in Georgescu's campaign
The basis for annulling the elections was the disclosed intelligence documents, which indicated manipulative actions that influenced the campaign of candidate Calin Georgescu.
Georgescu, who received the most votes in the first round, was found to be the beneficiary of an operation conducted from outside Romania.
The impending end of the current president of Romania, Klaus Iohannis' term, adds extra tension to the process of the early elections. His term will expire on December 21, making the situation even more urgent.
