Rediscovering liver: How to make delicious patties at home
My grandmother would be astonished. During my childhood, there was no convincing me to eat liver. Now, I make patties from liver that I truly enjoy. Perhaps it's an effective way to change your perspective on offal?
What kind of liver is best for patties?
Throughout my childhood, I couldn't stand liver. My grandma encouraged me, knowing it was a good source of vitamins and iron. It wasn't until years later that I came around to it, but I prepare it differently now. I make ground patties that my whole family loves. They're an economical meal option and go well with classic sides like potatoes or buckwheat, as well as practically any salad.
Chicken liver is ideal for patties. As with any offal, its source is crucial. Liver from naturally raised animals is a good source of nutrients. It's best to purchase it from reputable sellers.
Why is it worth eating liver?
Grandma was right. Nowadays, dietitians confirm that liver is rich in nutrients and should be eaten occasionally. It's a valuable source of vitamins and minerals. It contains significant amounts of iron, which helps produce red blood cells and prevent anemia. It also provides B vitamins, which positively affect the nervous system. It contains folic acid too. The choline in liver supports brain and liver function, while minerals like copper, iron, and zinc enhance immunity and improve metabolism.
