Rising tensions: Drone attacks target Russian industry
In Russia, explosions occurred near a metallurgical plant and an oil refinery. Drone attacks shook the Lipetsk and Ryazan regions.
On Sunday morning, the Ukrainian agency UNIAN, citing Russian media, reported strong explosions in several regions of Russia. The explosions occurred near the Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant in the Lipetsk region and an oil refinery in the Ryazan region.
Drone attacks in Russia
Russian channels on Telegram reported that residents of the Lipetsk region noticed the activation of the air defence system near the metallurgical plant. Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant is one of the largest metallurgical enterprises in Russia, playing an essential role in the defence sector.
Similar reports concerned the refinery in the Ryazan region, where local authorities reported shooting down a drone over Ryazan. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties, and residential buildings and social infrastructure facilities were not damaged.
Fire in the Rostov region
In the Rostov region, the remains of a downed drone caused a fire in one of the houses in the village. The Russian Ministry of Defence, quoted by UNIAN, announced that six drones were shot down over the region overnight.
Drone attacks also occurred in the Voronezh and Kursk regions. Fortunately, according to available information, there were no casualties or severe infrastructure damage. However, these events highlight increasing regional tensions and elevated drone activity in Russian airspace.
