We want to feel good and healthy, so we often reach for superfoods like chia seeds and flaxseed. They support our body's functions and improve skin condition. Another good idea is to try royal jelly. This is a forgotten and underrated product that can make quite a difference. Its health benefits have been confirmed by contemporary scientific research. Royal jelly can also play a very important role in protecting the body from strokes.

What is royal jelly?

As we know, it is a product made by hardworking bees. It has been known for its exceptional nutritional and health properties for centuries. It is produced in the pharyngeal glands of young worker bees (living around 5 to 15 days). The insects eat pollen and nectar beforehand, which provides them with the "fuel" to produce the jelly. From their mouths, a thick liquid emerges, which is used to feed the larvae. Initially, all larvae are given this nourishment, and after three days, the best one is chosen to become the queen.

It turns out that royal jelly is also a fantastic superfood for humans. This thick, cream-like and slightly sour-tasting liquid is packed with various nutrients. By consuming it regularly, we can improve our health. Moreover, the product has found a special place in cosmetics and medicine. We can find it, for example, in regenerating and moisturizing creams.

Royal jelly not only protects against strokes

Did you know that it contains over two hundred different bioactive compounds? That's a significant number, and it translates into the properties of this bee product. We find valuable fats, proteins (mainly albumins and globulins), and carbohydrates. Additionally, its composition includes vitamins (A, B, C, D, E) and mineral salts.

Royal jelly primarily dilates blood vessels, ensuring that tissues receive an adequate amount of blood and oxygen. This is confirmed by a study conducted on people affected by ischemic strokes. For 12 weeks, they took capsules with royal jelly. The results were astonishing. A decrease in inflammatory markers was observed. Scientists also support the theory that this product inhibits genes associated with lipid damage in brain cells. These two facts indicate that royal jelly protects our brain and positively influences its function.

Royal jelly supports other organs too

The list of this product's properties is incredibly long:

  • supports the immune system in fighting viruses and bacteria,
  • assists heart function (has cardioprotective properties),
  • may help reduce the risk of atherosclerosis and type 2 diabetes,
  • slows down the ageing process of the skin.

It is important to note that this is not a long-lasting product, so it's best stored in the fridge in a sealed container or jar.
