Russia unveils new missile as Medvedev oversees tests
Despite ongoing talks regarding a ceasefire, the Kremlin remains in a military offensive posture. At one of the Russian test sites, the Russians showcased a new cruise missile, which is said to have "promising" capabilities. The new weapon was admired by former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.
The Kremlin released footage showing the new cruise missile, and the Russians claim that both the missile's performance and the innovative weapon system are "promising." Dmitry Medvedev, the former president of Russia, observed the tests.
The "Lad Bible" website notes that little is known about the new Russian weapon. The equipment was showcased at the Kapustin Yar test range in the Astrakhan region. According to military experts, it does not resemble any Russian weaponry used to date.
The innovative missile has a design reminiscent of a bird's beak. Although the missile was not demonstrated in the footage, Russian military officials claim its power is "enormous." The "Lad Bible" site suggests that the missile is likely a prototype and its presentation was intended as part of a propaganda effort against Ukraine and the USA.
In addition to the cruise missile, Medvedev (serving as the deputy chairman of the Security Council of Russia) inspected tests of other types of weapons. Kremlin officials and military personnel were evidently impressed by the performance of the Russian artillery.
The tests and presentation of the new weapon could be alarming for the U.S. administration under Donald Trump. The President of the U.S. called on Vladimir Putin to cease the attacks on Ukraine. This occurred following Russian assaults on Kyiv, where nine people were killed, and 70 were injured. All the victims of the attack were civilians.
