Russia's narrative deflects blame, ignores initiation of war

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, with tears in her eyes, announced at a conference that "due to Ukrainian attacks in Russia" since 2014, 1,700 children have been killed or injured. She did not mention that it was Russia that started the war, nor that Russian troops bombard and shell Ukraine daily.

Warning! Many pieces of information regarding alleged attacks and aggression by Ukraine, as well as the course of the war reported by Russian and Belarusian state media, are likely not true. Such reports may be elements of information warfare by the Russian Federation.

- Over the past year, the highest number of victims due to the criminal actions of the Ukrainian armed forces, specifically minors, has been recorded in the Donetsk People's Republic. There, 127 children have been injured, and 11 have died - stated Zakharova with tears in her eyes.

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman reported that at least 1,700 children have suffered or died "as a result of the criminal activities of the Kyiv regime since 2014." She noted that in 2024, children fell victim to artillery and missile attacks on civilian infrastructure and died due to mine and cluster bomb explosions. Zakharova added that "the cause of the tragedy can also be explosive items disguised as toys."

- These are statistics that will become a tombstone for the Kyiv regime. Now think about it, all of you who regularly vote in European Union countries, in NATO countries, what are you voting to help the Kyiv regime? Who are the barrels of your guns aimed at, and where do those tens, hundreds, millions of dollars and euros go - thundered Zakharova.

Kremlin propagandist did not mention that it was Russia that started the war

Zakharova did not mention the tens of thousands of Ukrainian children abducted to Russia. She also did not say a word about the fact that it was Russia that started the war in Ukraine.

According to the latest UNICEF report, during three years of war in Ukraine, at least 669 children have died, and 1,854 have been injured. The actual number of casualties is likely much higher, as official data only includes child deaths confirmed by the UN.

Children not only die or get wounded in the war, but they also suffer from the loss of close family members or friends. It is estimated that one-fifth of Ukrainian children have lost a loved one to the war.
