Trump calls Putin's actions madness, Kremlin fires back
The Kremlin has responded to a series of recent tense statements by Donald Trump regarding Russia and Vladimir Putin. The Russian leader's adviser, Yuri Ushakov, stated that Trump... is not adequately informed about the events related to the confrontation between Russia and Ukraine.
Donald Trump declared on Sunday that Vladimir Putin has "gone absolutely crazy" and warned that if Putin seeks to take control of all of Ukraine, it could lead to the downfall of Russia. The US president simultaneously criticized the statements of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, claiming that everything he says "causes problems."
Putin "has gone absolutely crazy"
Trump emphasized that he "always had good relations with Putin", but - as he stated - "something happened" with the Russian leader. "He's gone absolutely CRAZY! He is needlessly killing a lot of people, and I’m not just talking about soldiers. Missiles and drones are being shot into cities in Ukraine, for no reason whatsoever," wrote the US president.
When asked about these words, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov described it as an expression of "emotional overload" at a "crucial moment".
On Tuesday, Trump attacked Putin again. "He's playing with fire," he wrote. In his post, Trump emphasized that "What Vladimir Putin doesn’t realize is that if it weren’t for me, lots of really bad things would have already happened to Russia, and I mean REALLY BAD".
Putin's adviser on unfavourable comments
On Wednesday, this time not the Kremlin spokesman but Putin's adviser himself responded to Trump's statements.
Yuri Ushakov stated that Donald Trump is not adequately informed about the events in the context of the confrontation between Russia and Ukraine.
In his opinion, Trump does not receive full information about the massive terrorist attacks that Ukraine allegedly conducts on Russian civilian cities.
At the same time – as Ushakov emphasized – Trump does not fully understand that Russia strikes solely at military infrastructure or Ukraine's defence industry facilities.
