Trump claims progress as Putin, Ukraine talk ceasefire

Russia continues its attacks on Ukraine. Donald Trump was asked about this during a press conference. The U.S. president responded by noting that the individual is actively engaged in conflict and pointed out that there was never any indication he would cease his actions.

The U.S. President, Donald Trump, on Monday shared information about his phone conversation with Vladimir Putin. Trump stated that some progress was made towards peace.

"Russia and Ukraine will immediately start negotiations toward a Ceasefire and, more importantly, an END to the War" he indicated.

A question was raised about Putin's attacks. Trump responded

During the press conference, a journalist pointed out that Trump believes Putin wants peace; however, yesterday Russia attacked Ukraine.

- Well, he's at war. They are fighting, attacking each other. And people are dying all the time. He is at war, he is fighting. Nobody said he would stop - replied Trump.

- Is it terrible? Yes, it's terrible. I think it's terrible, - he added.

Putin made a statement

The Russian dictator Vladimir Putin said that he had a phone conversation with Donald Trump, which lasted two hours. - It was sincere and substantive - he added. He emphasized that the memorandum between Russia and Ukraine could include issues of ceasefire and principles of conflict resolution.

The dictator stated that "Russia is ready to work with Ukraine on a memorandum on a future peace agreement" Putin conveyed that the U.S. president "expressed his position on a ceasefire in the war with Ukraine."
