Trump assessed that his Saturday meeting with the President of Ukraine in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome was good, and Zelensky is calmer compared to their previous meeting and argument in the White House.
Trump commented that he believed the Ukrainian leader grasped the reality of the situation and was interested in reaching an agreement. He also noted that during their meeting at the Vatican, the Ukrainian president once again requested additional weapons — a demand Trump pointed out had been ongoing for three years.

Trump also expressed his surprise and disappointment with the continuation of Russian bombardments of Ukraine, despite previous discussions about ending the war.
He stated that he expects Vladimir Putin to cease military actions and sign a peace agreement. I want Putin to stop shooting, sit down and sign an agreement. I believe we already have the framework for a deal, he said.
