The Reuters agency also confirms these reports. A source from the agency, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed Bloomberg's reports that Witkoff will go to Moscow for talks with Putin but did not provide any further details.

Steve Witkoff, officially Trump's envoy to the Middle East, is increasingly involved in efforts to end the three-year war in Ukraine.

American officials and Witkoff himself have yet to comment on these reports.

On Monday, CNN reported that the US and Russian delegations could meet in Saudi Arabia. The Kremlin denied this.

There are no planned talks between the US and Russia in Saudi Arabia this week, declared Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

Key talks regarding Ukraine

On Tuesday, talks will be held between representatives of the US and Ukraine in Saudi Arabia. It will be the first delegation meeting from both countries since the dispute between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky in the White House.

"We hope for practical outcomes. Ukraine's position in these talks will be fully constructive," assured Zelensky in a post on platform X.

The Ukrainian delegation, which arrived in Saudi Arabia, includes key representatives, including Andriy Yermak, head of the presidential office; Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha; and Defence Minister Rustem Umerov.

Although present in Saudi Arabia, President Zelensky will not participate in the negotiations themselves.
