- More than half of Americans expect a positive presidency if Donald Trump returns to the White House in January, according to the latest CNN poll. About 54% of Americans predict Trump's second term would be beneficial for the country. The December CNN poll also reveals that 55% of respondents believe the president-elect is managing the transition well. CNN mentions that 39% of Americans are confident in Trump's ability to shape the economy. The same percentage anticipates appropriate involvement in immigration matters, while slightly fewer, 37%, expect apt policy regarding the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
- In discussions with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the U.S. Secretary of State emphasized the necessity to protect minorities in Syria by "all actors" (participants in the conflict - ed.), and highlighted the importance of combating the Islamic State within the region.
