Despite attempts at negotiation between Russia, the United States, and Ukraine, fighting continues on the front. The Ukrainian and Russian armies also regularly strike militarily significant targets.

This was the case last night (April 4, Eastern Time), when an attack was carried out on the Optic Fiber Systems factory in Saransk, Russia. This is a locality in the Mordovia region, approximately 7,000 kilometres from the Ukrainian border.

According to Russian media, the attack was carried out by Ukrainian armed forces. The factory was struck by several drones. Residents in the region have posted recordings of the incident on social media.

In the video footage shared online, drones can be seen flying over the factory and hitting specific targets. After the attack, there was a large explosion and fire at the plant, which produces fibre optic cables used in controlling combat drones.

Local authorities reported an attack on an industrial facility in Chapaevsk. Preliminary, the drones targeted the Promsintez plant, which produces explosives for the Russian army, added Ukrainian blogger and former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Anton Gerashchenko, reporting on the attack on another Russian factory.

For now, the Ukrainian army has not confirmed its involvement in the attack on Russian armament facilities.

Many of the reports conveyed by Russian media and government representatives are likely not true. Such reports may be elements of an informational war on the part of the Russian Federation.
