Russian attack on Zelensky's hometown claims 14 lives

At least 14 people, including 6 children, were killed in an attack on Volodymyr Zelensky's hometown, Kryvyi Rih. Russian rockets fell on residential areas, including a popular restaurant, apartment buildings, and playgrounds. Only pressure on the Kremlin can put an end to this, President Zelensky asserts.

14 people died, and about 50 were injured. This is the toll of the Russian bombing of the city of Kryvyi Rih. At least five residential buildings were destroyed.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, who is from Kryvyi Rih, expressed deep regret over this tragedy. In his statement, he emphasized that the Russians attacked a civilian residential area, which is further evidence that Russia does not seek a ceasefire.

Russian strikes occur every day. People die every day. There is only one reason why this continues: Russia doesn't want a ceasefire, and we see it. The whole world sees it. Each missile, every attack drone proves that Russia seeks only war. And only the world's pressure on Russia, all efforts to strengthen Ukraine, our air defence, and our forces—can determine when the war will end, President Zelensky wrote on platform X.

Russians used a ballistic missile

According to Andriy Kovalchuk, head of the government's Centre for Countering Disinformation, the Russians likely used an Iskander missile.

This is a deliberate strike to kill a large number of people, assessed Kovalchuk.

The attack took place at 1:56 PM Eastern Time, and the missile struck a restaurant in a populated district of the city. As a result of this incident, more than 50 people were injured.

President Zelensky extended condolences to the families of the victims and emphasized that the world must exert pressure on Russia to end this conflict.
