Unprecedented drone blitz rattles Moscow ahead of key talks

Air defence shot down 337 Ukrainian drones during the night. It was the most serious attack of the year 2025, announced the Russian Ministry of Defence. Almost 100 drones targeted the Moscow region.

Many reports provided by Russian media or authorities contain propaganda elements. They are part of the information warfare conducted by the Russian Federation.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, 337 drones of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were destroyed and intercepted by air defence systems on the night of March 10th to 11th.

Massive attack on Russia

According to the Ministry of Defence:

  • 91 drones were shot down over the Moscow region,
  • 126 over the Kursk region,
  • 38 over the Bryansk region,
  • 25 over the Belgorod region,
  • 22 over the Ryazan region.

Additionally, several drones were shot down over the Kaluga, Lipetsk, Oryol, Voronezh, and Nizhny Novgorod regions.

The most significant damage has been reported in the Moscow region. The drones struck residential buildings, a car park, and a railway line.

Dozens of explosions in Moscow

Due to the drone attack, Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo airports near Moscow are not operational.

The capital of Russia also came under attack. According to Reuters, this may have been the most significant Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow to date.

The governor of the Moscow region, Andrey Vorobyov, stated that at least one person was killed and three others injured in the massive attack.

Information about the attack surfaced a few hours before a meeting planned for Tuesday at 3:00 PM Eastern Time in Saudi Arabia, where Ukrainian and American delegations are to discuss steps to end the war.
