Key information

  • Usha Vance visited India for the first time with her husband and children.
  • She met with India's Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
  • She plans new projects as the Second Lady of the U.S.

Usha Vance, wife of U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, found herself in the spotlight during a visit to India. This is where her parents come from, and it was Usha's first visit there. Accompanied by her three children and husband, she embarked on a four-day journey that attracted both media and political attention. During the visit, the Vice President's children wore traditional Indian outfits.

During the visit, Usha Vance met with India's Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. Her presence in her parents' homeland was widely commented on, and in an interview she gave to a local television station, she emphasized her emotional ties to India. "It is, in many ways, a trip of a lifetime," she admitted in an interview with the local television channel NDTV.

Although Usha Vance has not previously publicized her activities in Washington, she plans new projects as the Second Lady of the U.S. People familiar with her plans suggest they might relate to her experiences as a mother. Usha has already hired advisors, but for now, she is focusing on acclimating her children to the new environment.

Vance's wife was a Democrat

The "WSJ" points out that the Second Lady is fully committed to her husband's political ambitions. Usha Vance is also his trusted advisor. She analyzes his speeches and supports him in his political endeavours. Although she was a Democrat, she now supports Donald Trump's administration, which has raised some controversy.

While Usha Vance has yet to announce the issues she wants to address as Second Lady, work on her portfolio is ongoing. Her presence in India and plans for the future indicate an increasing role she may play in American politics.
