Zelensky open to dialogue as Trump heads to Vatican funeral
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Tuesday that he is ready to meet with Donald Trump during their visit to the Vatican. Both leaders have announced their participation in the funeral of Pope Francis, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday.
Volodymyr Zelensky, during Tuesday's briefing, expressed his readiness to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump in the Vatican – reports Ukrinform.
When asked whether a meeting between the leaders of Ukraine and the United States has been planned, Zelensky said, "We are always ready to meet with our partners from the United States."
On Saturday, in the Vatican, the funeral of Pope Francis, who passed away on Monday, will take place. Many world leaders have announced their participation in the ceremonies, including U.S. President Donald Trump, who is expected to arrive with his wife Melania, and the President of Ukraine.
Last week, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that the United States may withdraw from attempts to bring about peace between Russia and Ukraine if there are no signs of reaching an agreement in the coming days.
