Meghan Markle's jam divides fans with its 'soggy' debut
The brand As Ever, created by Meghan Markle, had a successful debut. All the products sold out within just half an hour. One notable success was the raspberry jam, which prompted varied reactions among buyers.
As Ever, founded by Meghan Markle, quickly gained popularity in the culinary market. The brand's products sold out within half an hour of their launch. Among these was the raspberry jam, which became a point of customer debate.
Despite being one of the brand’s pricier items, the raspberry jam received mixed reviews. A small jar of this delicacy costs $14, equating to over £11. According to the Plejada service, culinary critic Jane Herz from the Femail portal was among those who purchased the product, and she shared her opinion after sampling it.
According to Herz, the jam had a "nearly watery consistency" and resembled "a sauce that had spilled during transport." She remarked that the jam dripped from cutlery like a sauce, making it hard to spread on toast, which ended up being a "soggy disaster."
It was difficult to eat the spread with the toast, as it was so thin that it dribbled everywhere and made a mess. Our once nicely toasted piece of bread became a sopping wet disaster after just a few minutes - reviewed Herz, as quoted by the "Daily Mail".
Internet users strongly divided over Meghan Markle's jam
Similar sentiments were echoed online by users. One person on platform X (formerly Twitter) commented: "In the photo, it looks like it’s liquid! No seeds, no texture. Just liquid, sweet red water". Another user added: "It looks small, expensive, thin, and not very special. I think I’ll stick to my usual jam".
According to the brand's website, the jam, criticised by many online users, was made using a homemade recipe developed by the Duchess herself during her kitchen experiments. The "Daily Mail" review noted that the product’s consistency "makes it an absolute failure." The review gave the product just two out of five stars. "The Duchess says that jam is her jam, but we're not so sure. Maybe it's sauce?" it was suggested.
Despite these critical remarks, the As Ever brand continues to receive significant interest, and Meghan Markle’s products are rapidly disappearing from shelves.
