Dust is a mixture of tiny organic and inorganic particles that float in the air. Its presence can be harmful to health, especially for people with allergies. In homes, dust accumulates on furniture, appliances, and hard-to-reach places such as radiators. Regular cleaning is essential, but there are also home methods that can help reduce it.

Win the fight against dust

Dust consists of tiny fragments of skin, fibres, plant residues, hair, sand, and dirt. It is also a living environment for bacteria and, more importantly, harmful mites.

One of the simplest ways to reduce dust is to use fabric softener. This liquid prevents dust from settling on surfaces thanks to its antistatic properties. It will slow down the settling of dust and leave a pleasant fragrance in the room.

Just wipe the furniture

It is not recommended to use fabric softener alone to wipe furniture. To make this method effective, you need to prepare a simple mixture, which is very easy to make. You need a 500-millilitre spray bottle, boiled water, and fabric softener. First, pour the water into the bottle, then add half a fabric softener cap. Close the bottle and shake it vigorously to mix the ingredients.

Remember, this mixture does not contain cleaning agents, so it should be applied only to clean surfaces. Do not spray directly onto furniture or appliances. Instead, dampen a microfiber cloth and gently wipe the chosen area. This will slow down dust settling and introduce a pleasant fragrance into your home. Use this method every six to seven days to make the effect long-lasting.

Another way to reduce the amount of dust is to regularly ventilate rooms. An air purifier is effective in the homes of allergy sufferers. This device effectively removes contaminants and allergens from the air. Regular vacuuming and floor cleaning are basic activities that help fight against dust.
