Berlin doctor faces charges in deadly palliative care scandal
A palliative care doctor, Johannes M. from Berlin, is suspected of taking the lives of up to eight of his patients. Further chilling details of the alleged crimes are emerging. The doctor is currently in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
Johannes M. has been detained since August this year. He was initially suspected of killing four of his patients and was charged with manslaughter, subsequently being accused of setting fire to the homes of the elderly to cover up the crimes.
However, further horrifying facts have come to light during the investigation, and the case continues to develop.
The judge has extended the existing arrest warrant for palliative care doctor Johannes M., said the spokesperson for the Berlin prosecutor's office on Thursday, 28th November.

According to the Interia portal, the 40-year-old medic has been charged with an additional four crimes. The primary motive was said to be "the desire to commit a crime." He is held responsible for the deaths of two women aged 70 and 61, and two men aged 70 and 83. These individuals died as a result of being administered a "mixture of various drugs" by the doctor.
As reported by "Bild" and quoted by Interia, the specialist in palliative medicine, Johannes M., cared for several dozen seniors in total. He recently worked at an oncology centre in Berlin-Tempelhof, a hospice in Neukölln, and provided palliative care in the Kreuzberg district.
He also worked in medical clinics in Berlin and in the federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse.
The suspect, in his doctoral thesis, scientifically addressed the issues of homicides, including the number of unreported or undetected patient murders.
