British army chief warns of imminent threats from Russia, China and Iran

The new head of the British Army believes that the United Kingdom must be prepared for war. He proposes a three-year timeline to ready the forces for conflict. General Sir Roland Walker warns of threats from Russia, China, and Iran.

General Sir Roland Walker took command of the British Army on 15 July 2024. The seasoned military officer views his primary mission as preparing British forces for armed conflict.

General Walker believes that British forces must be prepared for war within three years, marking 2027 as a pivotal year. According to the BBC, General Sir Roland Walker noted that the world is becoming increasingly unstable, leading to a growing number of threats.

Which countries is General Walker referring to? The main threat is Russia. According to the British military officer, the Kremlin may seek revenge on the West for supporting Ukraine. It does not matter that the Russians have significantly weakened their potential by waging war against Kyiv.

Are China and Iran threats to the West?

This is not the only threat, according to the British military officer. The head of the British Armed Forces warns of China's attempts to retake Taiwan and Iran's armament, which aims to produce its nuclear arsenal.

General Sir Roland Walker states these three countries will pose the greatest threat to Western nations because, in recent years, they "mutual transactional relationship."
