Comments spark outrage: AfD leader under fire for Nazi remarks

Scandalous words from the leader of the German far-right. According to Tino Hrupalla from AfD, not every member of the NSDAP and SS was a Nazi. This statement was made on the German television channel ZDF during a political talk show. It is another example of the controversies related to the statements of Alternative for Germany politicians.

The German media is writing extensively about the matter. Tino Hrupalla participated in a political talk show broadcast on the public television channel ZDF. The journalist asked the leader of Alternative for Germany about the scandalous words of his party colleague.

Let us remind you that Maximilian Krah said in an interview for "La Repubblica" that “the SS was not fundamentally a criminal organization” and “not all of its members were war criminals”.

Although the AfD leadership officially distanced themselves from Krah's words, the most important politicians in the German party partly shared his opinion. Among them is the aforementioned Hrupalla. He stated that “not all SS and NSDAP members were criminals and Nazis”.

Hrupalla remarked that, while the SS was undeniably a criminal organization, not all its members were involved in criminal activities. He noted that during the final years of the war, children were recruited into the SS and Waffen-SS who did not participate in war crimes. He also suggested that it is unfair to label every member of the NSDAP as a Nazi, a statement that left the other participants of the program visibly unsettled.

Let us remind you that AfD won local elections in the lands bordering Poland. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz appealed to the main political forces in the country to "surround the Alternative for Germany with a sanitary cordon". The largest German parties have already announced that they will not enter into a coalition with AfD.
