According to residents, at least five powerful explosions and sounds of gunfire were heard in the city in the middle of the night.

The Shuya city administration reported a threat of drone attacks. Authorities urged city residents to remain indoors, not to approach windows, and to go down to the lower floors of buildings if possible.

The drone attack targeted the base of the Russian 112th Guards Rocket Brigade, from which Ukrainian Sumy was attacked on 13 April. Media reports suggest it was in retaliation for the Russians' bloody shelling, but the Ukrainian armed forces have not yet commented on the drone attack on the Ivanovo region.

Russian attack on Sumy

This is another instance of a drone attack on the base. The previous attack took place the day before. Russian media report that nine people were killed in the incident.

In the Russian attack on the city of Sumy in Ukraine, 34 people were killed, including two children. More than 117 people were injured, among them 15 children.

The attack occurred on Sunday at about 10:15 AM local time. The missiles struck the city centre as people were returning from or heading to churches for Palm Sunday, which is also celebrated in Ukraine. Many were also walking along the boulevard in the central part of Sumy.
