Emmys 2023: Shogun leads with 25 nominations, Emma Stone snubbed

For the 76th time, the Emmy Awards for the best television productions will be presented. These are the most important awards in the streaming industry. This year, it is pretty shocking that a series featuring a double Oscar winner was overlooked. So, who, according to the Television Academy, deserves a chance?

A historical record was set by the FX series titled "Shogun", which received 25 nominations, including one for Best Drama Series. This is an adaptation of James Clavell's 1975 novel of the same name. The series takes viewers to Japan, on the brink of civil war in 1600. The cast includes Hiroyuki Sanada, Anna Sawai, and Cosmo Jarvis. Both critics and audiences have enthusiastically received the series, and there is even more excitement for news of another season. "Shogun" is also one of the series that is seriously vying for the Top Series poll.

The second place in the ranking of series with the most nominations is held by "The Bear" (23 nominations). Following it is "Only Murders in the Building" (21 nominations), with fourth and fifth places occupied by "True Detective: Night Country" (19 nominations) and "The Crown" (18 nominations).

The biggest shock is the complete omission of the series "The Curse." This innovative, bold, avant-garde series by the Fiedler-Safdie duo is an eye-opener this year, and Emma Stone, a two-time Oscar winner, gave a stellar performance in it. The lack of nominations for "The Curse" and Stone has critics and journalists raising their eyebrows in disbelief.
