Fire sweeps Pacific Palisades in Los Angeles, forcing celebrity evacuations
A fire is ravaging the Pacific Palisades district in Los Angeles, a neighbourhood largely inhabited by celebrities. Chet Hanks, son of Tom Hanks, has appealed for prayers for the place that has been his home for many years.
Margaret Stewart, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department, emphasized the urgency of the rapidly spreading fire in the dense hills and stressed the importance of residents following evacuation orders during an interview with KABC, a CNN affiliate. The WP News article provides additional details about the fire affecting a portion of Los Angeles. CNN reported that the blaze covered approximately 1.2 square miles in just three hours.
The media is full of reports about the stars who had to evacuate from the district, including actress Mandy Moore and Ben Affleck. The fire also impacted several events organised in the city, including the premiere of the new film "Unstoppable" starring Jennifer Lopez.
Tom Hanks' son on the fire
Chet Hanks has reached out to his followers on Instagram, seeking prayers for Pacific Palisades, which is being destroyed by the fire. "The neighbourhood I grew up in is burning to the ground," wrote Chet. His parents own a property there, but it is not yet known if it has been affected by the fire.
The fire in Pacific Palisades forced the evacuation of about 30,000 residents. Firefighters are battling the blaze, but there is a shortage of water and supplies. The evacuation also included the areas of Malibu and Calabasas. Authorities warn that the worst may still be to come, as the fire is spreading rapidly.
Among the residents threatened by the fire are well-known individuals such as Ben Affleck and Chris Pratt. Spencer Pratt and his wife Heidi Montag lost their home to the fire. Fortunately, they managed to evacuate with their children before the flames arrived.
James Woods, an Oscar-nominated actor, expressed his gratitude to the firefighters for their efforts in battling the blaze. "We are safe and out," he wrote on the platform X. He also emphasised the importance of evacuating children from local schools.
Chet Hanks is the son of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, their first child together. It's worth noting that Tom has three sons in total. The eldest is Colin, a well-known and respected actor (Golden Globe nominee for "Fargo"), whose mother was Tom's first wife, Samantha Lewes. She passed away in 2002 at the age of 49 from bone cancer, although they had divorced in 1987. Since 1988, Tom has been with singer and actress Rita Wilson. Their youngest son is Truman, born in 1995, who has made a brief appearance in the film world, portraying a younger version of his father in the 2022 film "A Man Called Otto".
Colin and Chet have considerably more experience in the industry. Chet was recently seen in the series "Your Honor" on SkyShowtime, and in 2020, he appeared alongside his father in the film "Greyhound". He also had small roles in productions such as "Project X" and "Fantastic Four". At 32 years old, Chet Hanks is primarily known for being the son of a Hollywood actor. Among the topics that appear in publications about him are issues related to drugs, alcohol, an illegitimate child, assault allegations involving a former girlfriend, suspended rights to own a gun, vandalised hotel rooms, and, ultimately, rehab.
"I have been in character for as long as I’ve been in the public eye. I've played many roles and worn many masks. Actor. Rapper. Fitness guy. Lambo guy. None of them are the real me... But the more I look around at the world I see that the world doesn’t need any more caricatures. False depictions of who we think we need to be... There’s only on thing the world needs more of and that’s God," he shared on Instagram some time ago.
