Putin orders buffer zone as tensions mount on Ukrainian border
The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, has announced that the Russian armed forces are working on creating a buffer zone along the border with Ukraine. According to Moscow's claims, these actions aim to enhance security and include clearing mines in the border areas.
During a meeting with government members, Vladimir Putin stated that Russian troops are concentrating on establishing a buffer zone along the border with Ukraine. He emphasised that these actions target suppressing focal points of enemy resistance, writes the Russian daily "Kommersant".
The President of Russia noted that in addition to military actions, work is also being done to clear mines from the border areas, which were sites of intense fighting.
This particularly pertains to the Kursk, Bryansk, and Belgorod regions. Putin also commissioned the development of a programme to rebuild these regions.
"Kommersant" asserts that these efforts are part of a broader strategy to stabilise the situation on the Russian-Ukrainian border.
The Russian authorities emphasise that the buffer zone is intended to provide greater security and protection against threats from Ukraine.
