  • Kim personally oversaw tactical exercises involving drones.
  • North Korea has sent over 10,000 soldiers to Russia.

Kim Jong Un, the leader of North Korea, urged his armed forces to maintain full war preparedness. He described this as a "crucial task" for the army. These comments were made during special forces tactical exercises that included drone operations.

Our revolutionary armed forces are now in charge of not a few fronts, but the most important among them is the anti-imperialist class front, and making full preparations for war is the most crucial task - said Kim Jong Un, as quoted by the regime's KCNA agency.

During the exercises, which Kim supervised, soldiers in camouflage utilised drones. Photos from these manoeuvres were published in North Korean media. South Korean intelligence had previously reported on North Korean military training in Russia using unmanned aerial vehicles.

Support for Russia

Analysts from South Korea's Yonhap agency suggest that Kim's comments about the "anti-imperialist front" could be an effort to legitimise support for Russia in its war against Ukraine. North Korea officially confirmed sending over 10,000 soldiers and weapons to Russia.

Towards the end of last month, North Korea confirmed that military ties with Russia had been bolstered under a strategic partnership treaty signed by Kim and Russian President Vladimir Putin. This partnership aims to enhance military cooperation between the two countries.

The situation on the Korean Peninsula remains tense. North Korea's actions may influence further regional international relations and stability. Observers are closely monitoring developments and speculating on Pyongyang's next steps.
