Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Centre for Counteracting Disinformation of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, notes that Moscow is promoting the idea of a greater nuclear war threat than during the Cuban Missile Crisis. The Kremlin's aim is to intimidate the West and impact aid for Ukraine.
- Simultaneously, in the Global South, Russia avoids addressing this topic because it understands its dependence on China and India. Even in terms of information, Russia's strategy will be evident - added Kovalenko.
The High Representative of the EU, Josep Borrell, stated that he "does not see the relationship" between the U.S. decision to allow Ukraine to strike Russia with long-range weapons and a potential nuclear war.
Russia is attempting to alter the level of support for Ukraine, using various disinformation tactics. The Kremlin aims to frighten the West.
Putin signed a decree
Let us recall that the updated doctrine by Putin suggests that the basis for a nuclear strike could be "any aggression against Russia by a non-nuclear state supported by a nuclear power will be viewed as a joint attack," as well as a massive air attack with non-nuclear means, including drones.
Immediately after the document was published, Putin's press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, spoke. He stated that the changes should be viewed as a "message to the West." - Any aggression against Russia by a non-nuclear state supported by a nuclear power will be viewed as a joint attack - said Peskov.
