Netherlands clinch Euro 2024 semi-final spot amid Berlin clashes

In the last quarter-final match of Euro 2024, the Netherlands national team beat Turkey 2-1 in normal time and advanced further. During the match in the Berlin fan zone, a commotion forced the police to intervene.

The Netherlands national team completed the lineup of Euro 2024 semi-finalists. In the last quarter-final match, Ronald Koeman's charges were the only ones able to defeat their opponents in regular time.

The Turkish national team had to acknowledge the superiority of the Dutch, even though they led from the first half. However, within six minutes of the second half, two goals were scored, which turned the tide of the match.

The stands of Olympiastadion in Berlin were filled with fans from both teams. The same was true for the fan zone located in the German capital.

It was in this fan zone that a major brawl broke out after the Oranje took a 2-1 lead. Fans of both teams clashed, and beer cups started flying in the air. Security staff tried to prevent the fight, but were unsuccessful.

Only after the final whistle did the police arrive on the scene. However, as the Berlin police chief reported, no major incidents occurred during the match, so it appears that no one in the fan zone was arrested.

However, in Berlin, arrests were made later at night when Turkish fans blocked traffic around Berlin Zoo station and Breitscheidplatz. Several participants were arrested during a demonstration where pro-Palestinian slogans were chanted.
