Why were the Pentagon advisors dismissed?
Three former Pentagon advisors, including Dan Caldwell, Darin Selnick, and Colin Carroll, were dismissed following a leak investigation.
As they stated in a post on platform X, they were not informed about the details of the investigation or whether it is still ongoing.
"At this time, we still have not been told what exactly we were investigated for, if there is still an active investigation, or if there was even a real investigation of 'leaks' to begin with," the former Pentagon advisors conveyed.
What were the allegations against the advisors?
The dismissals of the advisors were related to the investigation concerning a series of leaks that included, among others, Elon Musk's visit to the Pentagon and military plans for the Panama Canal.
Former officials denied the allegations, claiming that "baseless attacks" destroyed their reputations. "Unnamed Pentagon officials have slandered our character with baseless attacks on our way out the door," they wrote in a statement.
What’s next for the former advisors?
The former advisors expressed support for "the Trump-Vance Administration’s mission to make the Pentagon great again and achieve peace through strength," but did not mention the Secretary of Defence with whom they worked closely.
The Pentagon chief, Pete Hegseth, is currently under investigation by the Pentagon's Inspector General regarding the sharing of classified information on a chat on Signal.
