PlayStation VR2 can now work with personal computers, giving users access to new titles. However, a special adapter must be purchased to use Sony's goggles on a PC.

PS VR2 on PC has progressed from testing to an official release, opening access to various virtual reality games on the Steam VR platform. Sony has prepared a guide for configuring the goggles on personal computers.

Key elements to launch PS VR2 on PC

The first and most important step is purchasing the right equipment. Sony has created the PlayStation VR2 PC adapter, essential for using the goggles on a PC. You will also need a DisplayPort 1.4 cable, which must be bought separately.

Sony informs that players must purchase the PlayStation VR2 PC adapter, which will be available on the direct.playstation.com website.

Hardware requirements for PS VR2 on PC

To use PS VR2 on a computer, certain minimum hardware requirements must be met. These include:

  • Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit or Windows 11 64-bit
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-7600 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100 (Zen 2 architecture or newer required)
  • RAM: minimum 8 GB
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or newer (Turing architecture or newer), NVIDIA RTX series, AMD Radeon RX 5500XT or newer, or AMD Radeon RX 6500XT or newer.
  • For the best performance, Sony recommends NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 or newer and AMD Radeon RX 6600XT or newer cards.
  • DisplayPort: DisplayPort 1.4 is required
  • Bluetooth: Bluetooth 4.0 or newer

The next step is connecting the PlayStation VR2 to the computer using the PS VR2 PC adapter and the DisplayPort 1.4 cable. Additionally, you will need to install the PlayStation VR2 and SteamVR applications. This will allow you to configure the goggles on the computer, adjust the settings and play area, and purchase VR games.
