Poland and allies bolster air defences amid Russian threats
The Operational Command of the Armed Forces has reported the activation of Polish and allied aviation in Polish airspace in response to Russian attacks on western Ukraine.
"In response to the activity of the long-range aviation of the Russian Federation, conducting strikes on targets located, among other places, in western Ukraine, the activation of Polish and allied aviation in Polish airspace has commenced," the Operational Command of the Armed Forces informed us early this morning.
We read that in accordance with the procedures in force, the Operational Commander of the Armed Forces has activated all available forces and resources.
Alert fighter pairs were scrambled, and the ground air defence and radar reconnaissance systems reached a state of highest readiness. These measures are designed to ensure security in areas bordering threatened regions.
"The Operational Command of the Armed Forces is monitoring the current situation, and the subordinate forces and means remain fully ready for an immediate response," added in the statement.
Massive attack on Ukraine
Russian forces have conducted missile and drone attacks on Kyiv and Kharkiv, resulting in numerous explosions and fires.
The attacks have caused severe damage in several districts of the city. In the Sviatoshyn district, there were fires in six locations, and people may be trapped under the rubble. In the Shevchenkivskyi district, fires were reported in buildings, and in the Holosiivskyi district, there were garage and car fires.
Among the injured people hospitalised by doctors are three children and a pregnant woman, reported by the Mayor of Kyiv, Vitaliy Klitschko.
