Putin appoints space veteran Krikalev as special envoy

Krikalev previously held this position from January to February 2024, before being succeeded by Borisov. Prior to this, from 2016 to 2021, Krikalev was the executive director of Roscosmos for crewed programmes.
His career at Roscosmos ended following controversies related to the film "The Challenge," which was filmed on the International Space Station.
