What were the attacks on the bridges?

On Tuesday, the Russian Investigative Committee accused Ukraine of blowing up two bridges last weekend in western Russia, according to Reuters, citing Russian authorities. Investigators described the attacks as acts of terror. The committee reported that during the night from Saturday to Sunday, the two bridges in the Bryansk and Kursk regions collapsed.

In the Bryansk region, a road bridge collapsed onto a passenger train travelling from Klimovo to Moscow, carrying nearly 400 people. As a result of this incident, at least seven people died, and 69 were injured.

In the Zheleznogorsk district of the Kursk region, a railway bridge collapsed over the highway, resulting in a locomotive derailment. The engineers operating it were injured.

How did Russia react?

The Russian Investigative Committee described these attacks as acts of terror targeting hundreds of civilians. Kremlin authorities have accused Ukraine of carrying out these attacks. The Investigative Committee stated on the Telegram app that these actions were deliberately aimed at civilians. Accusatory comments within Russia condemn the Ukrainian attack.
