Russian drone strike in Sumy leaves nine injured in attack

In the Ukrainian city of Sumy, a Russian drone struck a residential building, injuring nine people.

The attack, carried out by a Russian "Shahed" kamikaze drone on the multi-family building in Sumy, resulted in nine people being injured.

The explosion destroyed nine flats and twelve balconies. Rescue services managed to save four people, including one child, and 118 people were evacuated.

Information regarding the incident was provided by the acting mayor, Artem Kobzar.

- Once again, a "Shahed" strike on a multi-family building. Walls have been destroyed. Ambulance and rescue teams are at the scene - stated Kobzar.

"At the site of the incident, rescuers quickly deployed mobile rescue equipment. Psychologists and doctors from the State Medical Rescue Service are present," reported the State Emergency Service of Ukraine on Telegram.

The drone attack in Sumy is another incident involving unmanned aerial vehicles in the region. On 27 January, a Russian drone attack damaged infrastructure in Sumy and a nearby village.

Thursday marks the 1,071st day of Russia's war against Ukraine.
