Spotify unveils 'offline backup' for seamless music access

Spotify is introducing a new feature to its service that will be useful to people often out of internet range. With the Offline Backup option, Spotify will allow users to listen to music without internet access and without manually downloading it to their hard drives.

Thanks to Offline Backup, Spotify enables access to your favourite songs at any time and in any place, the creators explain in a press release. This feature is especially useful for people who frequently travel, stay in remote parts of the world, or want to save on data.

The Offline Backup in the Spotify app is essentially an automatically created playlist of tracks already stored on the device (in the cache) due to frequent listening. Users can filter and sort the songs on the playlist by artist, mood, or genre.

The Offline Backup playlist automatically appears in the “Home” section whenever the user loses internet access, provided they have listened to at least five songs in a row beforehand. To function, make sure the offline option in Spotify is enabled. You can check this in the “Settings” section, then “Data Saving and Offline” or “Storage”.

Spotify advises adding the Offline Backup feature to “your library” for easy access at any time. If Offline Backup is not visible in the app, you need to check if the software has been updated to the latest version. It can be found, among other places, through the dobreprogramy directory.
