The battle for America: Harris unveils Walz as running mate

Kamala Harris, whom the delegates at the Democratic Party Convention officially selected as the party's presidential candidate on Monday, introduced Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her vice-presidential candidate during a rally in Philadelphia on Tuesday.

Harris, who is running for the highest office in the country, declared to the cheering crowds that she was looking for a "a partner who can help unite our nation and move us forward—a fighter for the middle class and patriot who believes in the promise of America."

Harris pointed out that although they both come from different corners of this great country, they share the same values. She listed Walz's professional achievements as a high school teacher and football coach, calling him "the kind of teacher and mentor every child in America dreams of and deserves."

Referring to the ongoing intense election campaign, Walz said: "We have 91 days. God, that's easy. We'll sleep when we die."

He said he was proud that Harris chose him as a vice presidential candidate.

Walz emphasised that J.D. Vance shares "Trump's dangerous and backward agenda".

- I can't wait to debate J.D. Vance. If he's willing to get off the couch and show up - said Walz about Trump's vice-presidential candidate.

Both Harris and Walz, referring to the views of the former president, said "we are not going back". In this way, they alluded to Donald Trump's radical views and solutions, which in their opinion would set America back.
