Trump reinstates iconic Diet Coke button in oval office return
The inauguration of Donald Trump's presidency concluded on Monday. The Republican returned to the White House after a four-year break, and with Trump, the iconic Diet Coke button also returned to the Oval Office.
According to "The Wall Street Journal", on 20 January, following Trump's inauguration ceremony, a red button was found on his desk, housed in a wooden box.
Trump showcased the Oval Office
This is the "iconic" button used to order Diet Coke. It was first installed during Trump's first term, but in 2021, President Joe Biden ordered its removal.
Trump is known for his fondness for Diet Coke and has repeatedly emphasized that he does not consume alcohol, as his brother, Fred Trump Jr., passed away in the early 1980s due to complications related to alcoholism.
"Wars start and end there"
"We're going to be going over to the beautiful Oval Office, one of the great offices in history, even if it wasn't beautiful, it's the Oval Office, but it is beautiful, and we love the Oval Office," Trump said at the Capitol One Arena on Monday following the inauguration ceremony at the Capitol. "Wars start and end there. Everything starts and ends at the Oval Office," he added.
On Monday, it was noted that a portrait of George Washington was hung above the fireplace in the Oval Office, with photographs of Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson positioned on either side.
Four years ago, Biden removed the military flags of the different branches of the armed forces from the Oval Office, but on Monday, Trump's team restored them to their original places.
When Biden was inaugurated as president in 2021, he removed Winston Churchill's bust from the Oval Office. On Monday, the bust returned to its previous location by the fireplace.
Both Trump and Biden showcased Martin Luther King Jr.'s bust in the Oval Office, which, as The Wall Street Journal noted, remained in place at the start of Trump's second term. New silver eagle statues also appeared on the fireplace on Monday.
