Trump's playful advice amid Macron controversy
Donald Trump recently addressed journalists regarding the controversy surrounding the behaviour of Brigitte Macron, the wife of the French president. The US leader made a light-hearted remark about Emmanuel Macron. Trump couldn't resist a little joke.
The incident of the French presidential couple's unusual behaviour as they disembarked from a plane continues to capture global attention. To recap, cameras recorded Brigitte Macron grasping her husband Emmanuel's face and then pushing it away. Many speculated that the first lady had struck Macron.
Donald Trump weighed in on the matter when a Fox News journalist asked him for advice for the French president.
Trump reaches out to Macron, jokes inevitable
Donald Trump decided to respond to the Fox News reporter with humour. When Peter Doocy asked for marriage advice for Emmanuel Macron, Trump replied briefly.
“Make sure the door remains closed. That is not good,” quipped the former US president, with his words being quoted by Plotek.
Trump, who has married three times himself, offered further comments.
“ I spoke to him. He's fine. They're fine. They're two really good people. I know them very well,” he noted.
"People even invent theories"
The incident between the Macrons has caused a stir worldwide. As a result, President Macron himself stepped in to dispel any rumours that had intensified the scandal.
“There's a video showing how I joke and tease with my wife, and somehow this becomes a kind of geopolitical catastrophe, and people even invent theories to explain it. All the videos are real and, yes, sometimes people fiddle with them, but people attribute all sorts of nonsense to them,” noted Emmanuel Macron, whose statement was recalled by Plotek via CNN.
