Trump's plea prompts Putin's pledge for Ukrainian soldiers
- If they lay down their arms and surrender, they will be guaranteed life and dignified treatment - declared Vladimir Putin about Donald Trump’s appeal.
"I have strongly requested to President Putin that their lives be spared. This would be a horrible massacre, one not seen since World War II," Trump conveyed on Friday in a post published on Truth Social.
Trump also referred in his post to talks by his special advisor on Middle East affairs, Steve Witkoff, who spoke with Putin on Thursday in Moscow. The American president called the meeting "very good and productive".
"There is a very good chance ... horrible, bloody war can finally come to an end," emphasised Trump.
Putin on relations with the USA
The Russian leader also discussed the state of relations between Washington and Moscow. He noted that ties between Russia and the United States appear to be improving. However, according to a report by the Kremlin’s TASS news agency, the outcome remains to be seen.
Putin also informed that he spoke with permanent members of the Russian Security Council about restoring relations between the countries.
