The day before the first anniversary of Sinéad O'Connor's death, a likeness of the late singer was unveiled at the National Wax Museum in Dublin. However, not everyone is impressed with the result.

Sinéad O'Connor's life was marred by much suffering. Several months before her death, the star's 17-year-old son Shane committed suicide. A few days earlier, he had been reported missing after escaping from a private ward in one of Dublin's hospitals. He was admitted due to mental health issues, having attempted to take his own life twice the previous week. The artist was deeply affected by his death and blamed herself for it.

Been living as undead night creature since. He was the love of my life, the lamp of my soul. We were one soul in two halves. He was the only person who ever loved me unconditionally. I am lost in the bardo without him - her last post on social media read.

Sinéad O'Connor passed away on 26 July 2023. Six months later, it was confirmed that she died of natural causes.

The new wax figure of Sinéad O'Connor divides fans. Rightly so?

On 25 July 2024, the day before the first anniversary of the star's death, her wax likeness was unveiled at the National Wax Museum in Dublin. The sculpture, inspired by the famous music video for "Nothing Compares 2 U", was commissioned by her close friend and museum owner, Paddy Dunning, and created by the world-renowned PJ Heraghty. According to media reports, this was his last work for the museum.

The idea behind this statue was to show a time where she did a video of the song 'Nothing Compares 2 U,'' in which she was dressed in black. She was sad and emotional, and the song was a brilliant perfect pitch. The tear shown in the song was real and touched everyone’s heart. So, we went on to portray that song in her statue - said Paddy Dunning.

Not all fans are pleased with the final result. As they note, Sinéad O'Connor does not resemble herself.

Maybe it's just a bad angle in the recording, but I don't see any resemblance here; It looks more like a store mannequin; Awful! This could be anyone; you can't see Sinéad's beauty here - the comments read.
